Who we are …
For many, the first obvious question to ask is “what is a Berean?” Good question! The answer is found in the Book of Acts, Chapter 17, Verses 10-12.
“10 Then the brethren immediately sent Paul and Silas away by night to Berea. When they arrived, they went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed, and also not a few of the Greeks, prominent women as well as men.” — NKJV
For us, the name Berean has dual meaning. It not only connotates a position of humility in seeking truth and knowledge but is also a safe haven; a place that fosters growth and allows a person to experience love in community.
We are mostly formerly incarcerated people who have made the courageous and bold decision to take our lives back and serve a greater purpose—to change the world one braille page at a time.
Our mission/vision
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men”
The first, to provide excellent braille materials for the blind and visually impaired. Bringing high-quality braille materials to the students’ desk allows them to participate in class and experience community. Unfortunately, there are many blind students who either can’t get their materials on time or receive poor, inexcusable braille. This is where Berean Braille House comes in.
“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.”
The second, to provide opportunity for men and women who are re-entering society from our prisons. We believe there is grace in truth and truth in grace. Nobody should ever be defined by their worst mistake. A person should be defined by their actions after their worst mistake. By providing job opportunity to those who need us we are helping them prove society wrong. Currently, our focus is aimed at helping those who spent their time transcribing braille while incarcerated.
Our Future
The long-term goal is to build a facility that houses men and women who need a place to live when they re-enter society, provide braille transcribing opportunities, help them establish financial responsibility, and show them the love of Messiah Yeshua. By living out what the ancient Bereans did, we also can experience the same breakthroughs. No one should be alone when coming out of prison. Isolation increases the percentage of recidivism.
““The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound”
Meet the Owner
Hello!
I’m Kyle. I was once lost; but now I’m found! As a former God-hating drug addict and overall bad person, I surrendered my life at the foot of the cross on September 16th, 2014. You see, I met my Messiah Yeshua while recovering from a nasty drug addiction at a faith-based rehab center called Adult & Teen Challenge Northern Indiana. I couldn’t stand Jesus and I didn’t want anything to do with Him. Fortunately, He wanted me! I experienced so many amazing things that ultimately brought me to my knees. I literally surrendered up my life for Him eleven months later.
I spent almost 9 years incarcerated. My confession was uncoerced and self-initiated. There was never a warrant for my arrest and nobody told on me. I could’ve lived my entire life with my dark skeletons. I refused to allow myself to live the rest of my life in that manner.
While incarcerated I developed an uncanny talent of transcribing textbooks into braille. I achieved several certifications including the rare music braille certification and was the braille division manager for the braille shop I worked in. Over the years of waiting and serving I developed this God sized dream—this idea and vision—to create a braille transcribing company that stood apart from the rest.
One normal morning, while waiting to go to my braille job, I was informed that an attorney had showed up to see me. Let me be clear, I wasn’t expecting any attorney. Long story short, he was sent by God to initiate my release. Yahweh honored my obedience and sacrifice 9 years prior. Now, here I am executing that God sized vision; turning this world upside down.
Welcome to Berean Braille House—where we are dedicated to transforming print materials into accessible formats for the blind and visually impaired. Our main focus is to provide excellent braille transcriptions that empower students and adults alike to engage with literature, education, and spiritual texts. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy and freedom that comes from reading, regardless of their visual abilities.
Our work is inspired by a deep commitment to service and faith. Like the ancient Bereans, we see our transcribing efforts as a ministry, a way to share knowledge and spiritual growth with those who rely on braille. Each project we undertake is handled with the utmost care and precision, ensuring the final product is not only accurate but also a true reflection of the original text. We are honored to support our society in this meaningful way and strive to be a beacon of hope.
Thank you for visiting us. I invite you to explore our services and learn more about how Berean Braille House can assist you or your loved ones. Whether you need educational materials, religious texts, or personal documents transcribed, we are here to help. Together, we can make the world a more inclusive place—one braille page at a time.
